Weather update for second Pak vs Ban second Test match day one
The second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh, part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25, is set to commence on August 30 in Rawalpindi.
Bangladesh leads the two-match series 1-0 after securing their first-ever Test victory over Pakistan with a 10-wicket win in the opening match.
Pakistan will be looking to level the series in this crucial encounter.
However, weather conditions on the first day might play a significant role in the proceedings.
According to AccuWeather, temperatures are expected to be around 27°C, though it will feel closer to 30°C due to high humidity.
Overcast skies, extensive cloud cover, and a significant chance of a drenching thunderstorm are anticipated.
Winds will blow from the northeast at 11 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 32 km/h. Rainfall could reach 25.4 mm, with humidity levels at 79%, potentially reducing visibility to 4 km.
The weather could disrupt play, as there is an 80% chance of precipitation throughout the day.
Bangladesh made history by defeating Pakistan by 10 wickets in the Rawalpindi Test, with Pakistan being bowled out for just 146 runs in their second innings on the final day.
Pakistan played four pacers in the first Test - Shaheen, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali and Naseem Shah - as the Shan Masood-led unit wanted to go with a pace attack, but things did not go their way as they were dominated by the Bangladesh batting lineup.
It is believed inside the dressing room that the pacers could not take advantage of the grass on the pitch and their declining pace also became a matter of discussion.
The latest defeat to Bangladesh adds to this string of failures, leaving fans and former players deeply concerned about the future of Pakistan cricket.
Pakistan’s last victory in a home Test was in February 2021 against South Africa. Since then, they have endured a series of disappointing results, including a series loss to Australia, a whitewash at the hands of England, and a drawn series against New Zealand.
